ParagonPool & Spa

Our Services

From custom pool design to installation to ongoing maintenance — Paragon Pool & Spa has served the Twin Cities metro since 1990, with owner Mike Henry on-site for every project.

Comprehensive Pool & Spa Services

From design to construction to ongoing care, we handle it all.

Custom Pool Design & Construction

Paragon Pool & Spa designs and builds custom inground pools across the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin, with owner Mike Henry on-site for every project since 1990. Our steel wall vinyl liner pools feature 14-gauge walls, Hayward equipment, and concrete footings set below Minnesota's 60–80 inch frost line. We handle design, permits, excavation, construction, and finishing — tailored to your property and built for decades of Minnesota winters.

Hot Tub & Spa Installation

Paragon carries premium hot tubs and spas at our Willernie and Stillwater showrooms, with brands selected specifically for Minnesota's extreme winters and year-round use. We handle delivery, electrical coordination, placement, and full setup across the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin. A hot tub is the one backyard amenity you can enjoy even when it's 10 below zero in January.

Sauna Installation

Backyard saunas cost $3,000–$15,000 in Minnesota and are available in traditional Finnish and infrared options for indoor or outdoor installation. Minnesota has the highest per-capita sauna ownership in the U.S., rooted in Scandinavian heritage, and a sauna pairs perfectly with a pool for year-round backyard wellness. We install cedar barrel saunas, cabin-style units, and custom indoor builds across the Twin Cities.

Pool Renovation & Remodeling

Pool renovation in the Twin Cities typically includes vinyl liner replacement ($3,000–$5,000, takes 2 days), equipment upgrades, and feature additions like LED lighting, salt chlorine systems, and Hayward automation. Paragon has renovated pools across the east metro and Western Wisconsin since 1990, from simple liner swaps to complete redesigns with waterfalls, tanning ledges, and automatic covers.

Pool Maintenance & Service

Professional pool maintenance in Minnesota runs $2,000–$5,000 per year, covering chemicals, energy, and seasonal opening and closing. Paragon offers weekly service across the east metro and Western Wisconsin — including water testing, chemical balancing, salt system adjustment, equipment inspection, and repairs. Our seasonal opening ($150–$300) and closing ($150–$300) services protect your investment through Minnesota's freeze-thaw cycle.

Equipment Sales & Repair

Paragon stocks Hayward variable-speed pumps, Pentair salt chlorine generators, Hayward C-4000 filters, 250K BTU heaters, Polaris robotic cleaners, Coverstar automatic covers, and a full line of chemicals at our Willernie and Stillwater showrooms. Our technicians diagnose and repair any pool or spa equipment issue across the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin, with parts for most major brands in stock.

Automatic Pool Covers

Automatic pool covers from Coverstar and SwimWise cost $12,000–$22,000, support 485+ pounds (ASTM safety rated), and retain 50–70% of overnight pool heat — extending the Minnesota swim season by 4–6 weeks on each end. An automatic cover can also satisfy municipal fence requirements in many Twin Cities jurisdictions. We handle installation, maintenance, fabric replacement, and repair.

What a great choice we made by selecting Paragon Pools to install our 18x36 pool package. The installation was a pain-free, noninvasive home improvement project. Mike answered all of my questions and addressed all concerns, returning every phone call no matter how trivial. The project was started two weeks early, and the team finished in nine days.

18x36 Pool Installation

This is our second pool, but our first with Paragon. The difference in everything has been amazing. We were nervous to begin the pool process again based on our past experience with another pool company. But you made it truly wonderful. Your pool company is the best around. We will be customers for life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our services.

How much does an inground pool cost in the Twin Cities?+

An inground pool in the Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin typically costs $40,000–$125,000 in 2026, depending on size, features, and site conditions. Vinyl liner pools (our specialty) are the most popular and cost-effective option for Minnesota's climate. Our complete packages include 14-gauge steel walls, Hayward equipment, and a lifetime transferrable warranty. Minnesota pools cost 15–25% more than Sun Belt installations due to deeper excavation and freeze-resistant construction. We provide detailed written estimates with no hidden fees — contact us for a free quote.

How long does it take to build a pool in Minnesota?+

On-site construction takes 2–3 weeks, with the total project running 8–12 weeks from design to first swim. The build season in Minnesota runs May through October. Permits are the biggest variable — Woodbury and Stillwater typically process in 2–3 weeks, while some cities take up to 8 weeks. Starting the planning process in late winter or early spring is the best way to ensure you're swimming by summer. We handle all permitting.

What types of inground pools do you build?+

We specialize in steel wall vinyl liner inground pools — the most popular and cost-effective type for Minnesota's climate. Our 14-gauge steel walls with concrete footings set below the 60–80 inch frost line are specifically engineered for freeze-thaw cycles. Pools can be any rectangular dimension from 14x28 to 20x40+, with custom shapes available. All packages include Hayward equipment, Latham liners, and a lifetime transferrable warranty on the steel structure.

Do you serve Western Wisconsin?+

Yes. Paragon Pool & Spa serves the entire Twin Cities east metro and Western Wisconsin, including Hudson, River Falls, New Richmond, Somerset, and Prescott. Our Stillwater showroom is less than 15 minutes from Hudson. We handle Wisconsin permits and know the local requirements in each St. Croix and Pierce County municipality. Pricing and construction standards are the same on both sides of the river.

How does Minnesota's climate affect pool construction?+

Minnesota's frost line reaches 60–80 inches deep — among the deepest in the country. Pools must be engineered for freeze-thaw: concrete footings below the frost line on sono tubes set 4 feet on center, 14-gauge (not 16-gauge) steel walls with triple bracing, granular backfill for drainage, and plumbing that can be fully blown out for winterization. Pools built with Sun Belt methods will fail in our climate. Pools built correctly last decades — our earliest installations from the 1990s are still going strong.

What is included in a Paragon pool package?+

Every package is turnkey: 14-gauge steel walls, concrete footings, Hayward SuperPump variable-speed pump, Hayward 250K BTU heater, Hayward C-4000 filter, walk-in steps, underwater LED light, solar cover with reel, Polaris robotic cleaner, full accessory kit, and a lifetime transferrable warranty. Site-specific costs (permits, electrical, gas, fencing) are quoted separately with clear line items. No hidden fees — we provide a complete written estimate before work begins.

Do I need a fence around my pool?+

Yes. Most Twin Cities municipalities require a 48-inch (4-foot) non-climbable fence with a self-closing, self-latching gate. Some cities require 60 inches (5 feet). Fencing typically costs $18–$28 per linear foot. In many jurisdictions, an ASTM-rated automatic safety cover (like the SwimWise and Coverstar units we install) can satisfy the barrier requirement in place of a fence — but verify with your city first. We advise on the specific requirements for your municipality during the consultation.

What does annual pool maintenance cost?+

Annual maintenance costs for a Minnesota pool run $2,000–$5,000 depending on pool size and features. Breakdown: chemicals ($500–$1,000 per season, less with a salt system), energy for pump and heater ($600–$3,000 depending on usage), professional opening and closing ($300–$600 combined), and occasional equipment maintenance. Our chemical start-up package is $225 and includes everything for the first month. We also offer weekly maintenance service across the east metro and Western Wisconsin.

How long is the swimming season in Minnesota?+

Without heating: 3 months (mid-June through mid-September). With a gas heater and automatic cover: 5–7 months (April through October). A Hayward 250K BTU heater can raise water temperature 1–1.5°F per hour. An automatic safety cover retains 50–70% of overnight heat, dramatically reducing heating costs. Most of our customers swim from May through September with a basic heater setup — adding an automatic cover extends that by 4–6 weeks on each end.

Is owner Mike Henry really on-site for every project?+

Yes. Mike Henry has been building pools in the Twin Cities since the early 1970s and personally supervises every Paragon installation. He's on-site during every critical phase: excavation, wall placement, equipment sizing, and final inspection. This isn't a sales promise — it's how we've operated for 35 years. As Tom and Deb Campbell wrote: 'Paragon stands head and shoulders above the pack.' That reputation was built one project at a time, with Mike on every one.

We are very happy with our new pool. We had some problems with the new pump, but with just one phone call to Kathy, the problem was taken care of immediately. Your service tech Bob was excellent at taking care of the problems. We would certainly recommend your company to anyone.
